There is hereby incorporated by reference for the purpose of regulating public offenses within the corporate limits of the City of St. John, Kansas, that certain code knows as the “Uniform Public Offense Code” Edition 2023, prepared and published in book form by the League of Kansas Municipalities, Topeka, Kansas.  No fewer than three copies of said Uniform Public Offense Code shall be marked or stamped “Official Copy as Adopted by Ordinance No. 1094-24”, and to which shall be attached a copy of said ordinance, and filed with the city clerk to be open to inspection and available to the public at all reasonable hours.

(a)   Section 11 of the Uniform Public Offense Code relating to public morals is hereby omitted and deleted.

(b)   Section 10.13 of the Uniform Public Offense Code relating to barbed wire is hereby omitted and deleted.

The Uniform Public Offense Code is amended as follows:

Section 9.14 Disturbing the Peace. Any person who shall willfully make any loud or unusual noise, or use any obscene, vulgar or profane language, or threaten any person, or challenge him or her to fight, or menace him or her with corporal or pecuniary harm, or willfully give a false alarm of fire or other false alarm, or be drunk or disorderly in any street, alley, lane or public place, in the city shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of disturbing the peace, a Class C misdemeanor and shall be sentenced and/or fined as defined by Article 12 of the Uniform Public Offense Code.
